Art Guidelines
Art & Proofs
Electronic Art: Our preferred program is Adobe Illustrator with an .eps or .ai file extension. On canvas type materials, simple 1-color art may be sent as a .jpg, .tiff or .pdf file formats with a minimum resolution of 600 dpi. If art has halftones or multiple colors, programs accepted include PhotoShop, Adobe Illustrator, Freehand, Corel Draw, or Quark Express. Some factories may require files from specific programs only. Please send art in a creative outline format and include all fonts in your design. Maximum file size is 2 mb for E-mail art. Please send larger files on CD or disk via next day delivery.
E-mailing art work: Please email art directly to your account representative and call to confirm receipt. Please include your contact information and telephone number in the email especially when art is sent from a third party. If you do not receive an email confirmation of receipt- assume it has not yet been received.
Pantone color match: Pantone is a universal color matching system that tells the printers what color inks to use. Pantone color numbers may be referenced for desired shades, however exact matches can not be guaranteed. For more information on Pantone colors, visit pantone.com.
Art services: Art not submitted in the requested formats may delay production. If art file has low resolution or needs to be professionally redrawn, layer separated, or reformatted, upon request, we can provide this service at nominal fee to help expedite your order. There is no charge for type-setting.
Paper Art: If you wish to send a black and white camera-ready print out, please print art to size or larger, and send via next day delivery to avoid unnecessary delays. Color separations with composites are required for art with multiple colors. Clean and crisp hard copy art is accepted for solid ink coverage only. Art with halftones and shading require digital art. We can only reproduce art in the quality in which the art is received.
Proofs: E-proofs are provided on all orders for your signature approval. Printed spec samples may require additional lead time and are generally provided on large quantity orders. Pre-production samples may be provided for orders requiring half tone ink coverage, pantone color references, or upon request if time allows. Orders requiring imprinted spec samples will be sent by air to preserve delivery date. Shipping is additional.
